The 2021 varsity football schedule has been released. The game features five non region games and five Region 6-AA games. The non region games are against a mix of some new and some familiar faces. New teams that the Iron Horses will play in 2021 are Waccamaw and Military Magnet. Waccamaw is a member of region 7-AAA and Military Magnet is a member of region 7-A. The Waccamaw game will be the home opener, while the Military Magnet game will be played at the brand new CCSD District 4 Stadium on either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday of the week, depending on availability. Rounding out the other three non region games are opponents that the Iron Horses are familiar with from previous seasons. The Iron Horses will open the season on the road at Georgetown, from region 7-AAA, and close out the non region schedule at Hanahan, a region 8-AAA team. The Iron Horses are 0-2 all time against Georgetown and 1-1 against the Hanahan Hawks all time. Perhaps the biggest game on the non region schedule will be the rivalry against Bishop England High School, a region 8-AAA team that has won the last three contests against the Iron Horses.
The region schedule features three homes games and two away games. The Iron Horses will host the Burke Bulldogs, who they are 2-1 against all time, followed by the Lake Marion Gators, who hey are 1-0 against all time. The Iron Horses will then go on the road for the next two weeks to host the 2020 region champs Woodland, followed by the Timberland Wolves, who the Iron Horses defeated in 2020 by a score of 3-0. The regular season will finish out at home with a new opponent to the Iron Horses, Ridgeland Hardeeville. This will be the first meeting between the two region opponents, as the Jaguars did not field a team in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
